Lasotronix provides diode lasers for minimally invasive endovenous laser ablation (EVLT) with radiation at different wavelengths: 980nm, 1470nm, or 1940nm, and the option for further expansion with additional light sources. In the case of 980nm radiation, hemoglobin has a higher absorption coefficient than water, as illustrated in the diagram.
Conversely, for 1470nm and especially 1940nm, water absorbs light radiation much more effectively than hemoglobin. Both hemoglobin and water are components of human tissues, including blood and vascular walls.Laser systems with a wavelength of 980nm have been widely used for over 20 years, with an average power of 10-12W during treatments.
The 1470nm wavelength requires smaller powers, typically 6-8W, and for 1940nm wavelengths, 4-6W is sufficient for effective surgery. The reduced power requirements make these lasers safer and more predictable tools for doctors, ensuring faster and more comfortable recovery for patients.
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) is a procedure designed to close varicose veins. The process involves inserting a fiber optic into a saphenous vein through a catheter. The laser is then activated and gradually withdrawn from the vein. The predominant effect is thermal, with the tissue being heated, causing the vein walls to shrink due to changes in the endothelium and collagen contraction.The treatment can be performed using pulsed or continuous-wave laser operation. Pulsed operation involves step-by-step withdrawal of the fiber, while continuous-wave laser operation involves a continuous withdrawal, providing more homogeneous vein illumination, minimizing tissue damage outside the vein, and yielding better results. The therapy initiates the occlusion process, and over several days or weeks post-treatment, the veins continue to shrink, leading to favorable long-term results.
